Integrated Charcoal Stove , Environmentally Friendly Technology Will Be Applied in Parungpanjang KHDTK

BP2TPTH (Bogor, April 2019). Integrated charcoal stove , an innovation tool of Forest Product Research Center (P3HH)  arrived in Parungpanjang Forest Area with Special Purpose (KHDTK), Friday (3/15/2019 ago). This environmentally friendly technology will be applied at Parungpanjang KHDTK.

Started   to be developed from the 80s, with renewal, research and innovation being carried out continuously, nowadays more and more stake holder have been using it, both small and large scale by  company. One of the latest innovations from the current tools is liquified smoke.

"Charcoal produced by this tool can be used as a substitute for fuel oil, it can also be used for compost mixers, so-called bio-active compost charcoal  shortened to arkoba , can be used directly or made in form of briquettes," said Gusmalina, P3HH researcher when delivering charcoal stoves integrated to Parungpanjang KHDTK.

"While liquid smoke is used as fertilizer (NPK) even though its  levels are not too much, so it can be for hormones to grow because there is an acetic derivative, it can also be used for bio-pesticides, replacing chemical pesticides," Gusmalina added.

"Why is it called an integrated charcoal furnace ?, because in the process of making and using it all is done in an integrated manner," explained Senior Researcher again.

Gusmalina explained, at a not too expensive cost, especially if you have the material (drum) itself, just add iron on it and the cooler can be bamboo or stainless steel, simple, uncomplicated, this technology is cheap and environmentally friendly.

According to Gusmalina, if it is used continuously it can last up to four years, with a note that it is maintained and maintained, for example by putting under shade, not rusty, which often wears first is under the drum, because of combustion.

“As a technician, I have gone everywhere to introduce and assemble this tool, several times I go to mining companies, they have land that will be reclaimed, reforested, but often fails, plants cannot grow, with these tools and products, soil is processed and returned to its function, this charcoal can build soil fertility, then it can be planted and succeeded, even rat pests cannot enter, "said Ali, a senior technician at P3HH who assembles integrated charcoal stoves.

At Parungpanjang KHDTK, field officers were eager to learn how to use and utilize integrated charcoal stoves.

"We will use this integrated charcoal for compost and liquid smoke for fertilizer, just a small scale first, own use by our three officers, while in the future we will invite farmers  who are members of the KHDTK Parungpanjang Forest Farmers Group to make fertilizer themselves and use them on their own land, "said Jhonny Holbert, Head of  BP2TPTH  to Prof. (Research) Gustan Pari, Senior Researcher of Forest Products Research Center, the innovator of this tool who took part in the group.

"You have to start switching from  chemical to organic and environmentally friendly like this. Also cheaper because the tools already exist, just look for raw materials and make it yourself. "The matter of raw materials do not need to worry, it is abundantly available in our KHDTK (Parungpanjang KHDTK)," Jhonny added.***
