B62. Jalawure Tuber for Agroforestry in Coastal Area
Coastal agroforestry model by planting jalawure tuber in between teak plantation was invented to improve alternative food sources in the coastal area. The agroforestry model was developed by managing plantation of jalawure (Tacca leontopetaloides) which is one of the coastal vegetation, under teak tree stand (Tectona grandis L.f.). Agroforestry land management supports teak tree growth and provides jalawure tuber as an alternative food resources. Jalawure tuber could be used as flour to derivate various cuisines.
Perspective
Coastal agroforestry model up to 200 m above sea level, by planting jalawure plant under teak tree stand creates optimum teak tree growth and jalawure tuber could be utilized as an alternative source of food.
