Consulting on Conservation and Water Resources Management, South Konawe DPRD Visitted BP2LHK Makassar
BP2LHK Makassar (Makassar, Agustus 2018). Members of South Konawe Regional People’s Representative Assembly (DPRD), Southeast Sulawesi Province, visited the R&D Center for Environment and Forestry (BP2LHK) Makassar, last Friday (24/8/2018). In order to carry out their monitoring role and functions, they consult on conservation and management of water resources.

Agroforestry at Sesaot Community Forest Proved to be Able to Improve Community’s Economy, Ecology, and Social
BP2THHBK (Lombok, Agustus 2018). Non-wood forest product commodities at Sesaot Community Forest, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara are proven to be able to improve community’s economy, ecology, and social. This was said by Dr. Ryke Nandini, researcher of R&D Center for HHBK (BP2THHBK) Mataram on her scientific publication featured on Faloak Forestry Research Journal Volume 2 No.1 April 2018.

Managing KHDTK, BP2LHK Banjarbaru Is Exploring Cooperation with Cooperatives
BP2LHK Banjarbaru (Banjarbaru, Agustus 2018). In managing Forest Area for Special Purpose (KHDTK), R&D Center for Environment and Forestry (BP2LHK) Banjarbaru will be cooperating with Cooperative. This mechanism is taken as one of the methods to deal with pressures from the surrounding communities to access the KHDTK area.

Increasing Amount of Waste Threatens the Biological Sustainability of Lake Sentani
Balitek DAS (Solo, Agustus 2018). The increasing population surrounding the Lake Sentani, Jayapura District, is creating its own problem for Lake Sentani. Among the issues are the increasing amount of waste and water quality at Lake Sentani. “Increasing number of inhabitants, housings, and factories, are leading to the pollution of the lake," said Baharinawati, a researcher of R&D Center for Watershed Management Solo as quoted by Majalah CerDAS Vol 3 No 2 Year 2017.

The Anoa Breeding Centre Manado’s Commitment Attracts Attentions from National and International Conservation Observers
BP2LHK Manado (Manado, Agustus 2018). The continuing success of Anoa Breeding Centre (ABC) R&D Center for Environment and Forestry (BP2LHK) Manado in conserving one of the endemic Sulawesi fauna, anoa (Buballus sp.) attracts the attention of not only national conservationist but also international. Within the last one month, there were three visits of national and international conservationists to ABC BP2LHK Manado.

Bekai Leaves: Anti-cancer Bio-vetsin from the depth of Kalimantan Forest
B2P2EHD (Samarinda, Agustus 2018). On 2016-2017, R&D Office of Dipterocarps Ecosystem (B2P2EHD) researched on Bekai leaves, a plant from the depth of Kalimantan jungle. As a result, Bekai leaves can be used as natural flavoring in cuisines (bio-vetsin) by locals and it has a high anti-oxidant content.

Downstreaming R&D Results, BP2THHBK Assessing Synergy with Eijkman and Balitro
BP2THHBK (Lombok, Agustus 2018). On August 1-4, 2018 – the R&D working group for Science-Tech Center of Excellence (PUI) of R&D Center for Non-Wood Forest Products’ Technologies (BP2THHBK) is conducting assessment for synergy between the Eijkman Molecular Biology Institution in Jakarta and the Office of Spices and Medicinal Plants Research (Balitro) in Bogor. The assessment is conducted to improve the capacity of R&D institution selected as PUI.

BP2LHK Aek Nauli Readies Themselves for KNAPPP Accreditation
BP2LHK Aek Nauli (Aek Nauli, Agustus 2018). R&D Center for Environment and Forestry (BP2LHK) Aek Nauli is preparing everything to reach the National Accreditation Commission for R&D Institution (KNAPPP). The KNAPPP accreditation is a formal acknowledgement for a R&D institution for their capability to conduct their role and function, vision, and mission, the quality of R&D outputs and the efficiency of its performance in meeting the preset general requirements.
